History and Origin

He was one of the Twelve Apostles and a relative of Jesus. He preached the Gospel in Judea, Mesopotamia, and Persia, where he suffered martyrdom. He is often confused with Judas Iscariot, the traitor, which caused his devotion to be forgotten for a long time.
